Financial support for employers and mature age employees for training

Eligible individuals/employers are able to access a Skills and Training Incentive (up to $2,200 inclusive of gst) to undertake identified training opportunities. Covering costs towards, the Incentive requires a co-payment, where the participant or their current employer matches the Government’s contribution. The program is delivered by VERTO.

To participate, individuals must be Australian citizens or permanent residents aged 45 to 70  years; who are either:

  • Currently working and looking to upskill / reskill or transition in to a new role; or
  • Unemployed for no more than three consecutive months and not registered for assistance through a government employment services program (e.g. Job Active).

The information session is being held for employers at the Swan Hill Regional Information Centre on Thursday 16 May 2019 at 12.30 – 1.30pm.

VERTO will also be available for individual appointments on the 15, 16 & 17 May 2019.

The Skills Checkpoint program is a joint initiative between the Department of Education and Training, and the Department of Jobs and Small Business aimed to assist mature age workers to undertake accredited and non-accredited training.
