Reporting to the Ganger, could you be our next Way Maintainer? In this role you will carry out maintenance work of a specialised nature related to V/Line’s rail infrastructure. In particular working on our freight line, that is responsible for getting grains, fruit, wine and other goods to where it needs to be.

 

About the role

  • Maintenance work including the renewal of track work and crossings including sleepers, rail, ballasts and fastenings
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with appropriate OH&S standards and regulations
  • Based in Ouyen, however travel across the wider North Western region will be required
  • Hours will be Monday to Friday 7:30-4pm with the flexibility to work overtime and away from home as required.

 

About you

  • Strong communication skills and enjoy contributing to a team environment
  • A positive 'can do' attitude
  • Strong awareness for risk and safety practices
  • Ability to use hand tools
  • Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure and tickets to operate a backhoe, excavator and alike is advantageous but not essential
  • Previous experience working in a labouring or trades environment desirable
  • Hold a valid Victorian drivers’ licence

The salary for this position will be paid in accordance with the current V/Line Asset Management Enterprise Agreement 2019 IMW (Track) 1.1 ($32.85 per hour) and is a Medical Category 1 position. The selection process may include aptitude assessments, a behavioural event interview, probity (police) check and medical check.
