We are seeking a highly motivated Full-Time Accountant to join our vibrant team at our Swan Hill office. We are looking for an individual to serve our local Swan Hill community with a long-term career opportunity.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Accounting Expertise

• Preparation of annual financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, companies and trusts

• Assisting in formulating budgetary and accounting policies

• Maintaining internal control systems and preparation of tax planning estimates and cash flow forecasts/budgets

• Liaise with external organisations such as ATO, Centrelink, Banks etc

• Compile and analyse client financial information to prepare annual financial statements

• Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted business policies and procedures

• Make certain all financial reporting deadlines are met

• Prepare financial management reports as required

• Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end Business Activity Statements are lodged

• Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures

• Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities

• Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations and integrity of financial data

• Provides services relating to compliance-based financial reporting, auditing, insolvency and accounting information systems; and advises on associated record-keeping requirements.

Financial Analysis

• Evaluate and advise on business operations including revenue and expenditure trends, financial commitments and future revenues

• Collect and analyse financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems

• Conducting financial investigations, preparing reports, undertaking audits and advising on matters such as the purchase and sale of businesses, mergers, capital financing, suspected fraud, insolvency and taxation

Professional Development

• Keep abreast of new developments in accounting software such as Xero, MYOB Essentials & Account Right, Quickbooks online, Reckon and possible add-ons.

• Maintain required level of technical knowledge.

• Keep abreast of current developments in the tax area.

Qualifications required: Professional Accounting qualification is a must.

Certifications required: Certified XERO advisor, XERO payroll certifications and other relevant.
