Whilst Woodward Foods Australia has been operating in Swan Hill for over 30 years under the trading name of ‘Swan Hill Abattoirs’, it has undergone significant expansion in the past 5 years. This has allowed the company to achieve Tier 2 Export Accreditation, which is a credit to its quality product, derived from consistent quality assurance and hygiene standards.

Our company’s founder and chairman Robert Woodward, an iconic stockman is renowned for his love of the land and his life’s contribution to agriculture in Australia which continues to this very day. This commitment has allowed Robert to progress from a small livestock trading operation in Melbourne’s working-class suburbs, to a portfolio which now boasts a tier 2 export accredited abattoir facility in Swan Hill, wholesale divisions in Sydney, Brisbane, and Adelaide, 3 concept retail stores in Adelaide, as well as a rich pastoral portfolio, which spans across 5 states.

Woodward Foods Australia is a vertically integrated family-owned local business, operating across five states. The company emphasises a full paddock-to-plate approach, overseeing all aspects from breeding, to processing, to distribution.

WFA can now boast being ‘Australia’s most awarded meat’, after a successful awards campaign from 2016 to 2018. The company’s three heavily awarded new brands are now available to consumers all around the world – Finest Beef, Natural Beef, and Australian Lamb. ‘Finest Beef’ is MSA graded beef, grain-finished at Garrison Feedlot on the iconic Murray River. Finest Beef was recently awarded a bronze medal, at the 2018 Sydney Royal Fine Foods Show. ‘Natural Beef’ is pasture-raised beef, free from HGP and growth hormones. ‘Australian Lamb’ is MSA graded lamb, nurtured by grazing on pastures and free of hormone growth promoters. It is arguably Australia’s best available lamb, having won all major gold medals, including the 2018 Sydney Royal Fine Foods Show, 2018 Royal Queensland Food and Wine Show, and the 2018 Australian Food Awards.

Our Swan Hill plant currently employs over 250 people across a range of sectors. We are always looking for people within the Swan Hill community to fulfil a number of roles. Preference will be given to enthusiastic applicants willing to work in a dynamic environment.
